Recent Interview:

We recently had the pleasure to do a small interview with a repective Rochester City School employee that has answered some questions about the issues. Some of the highlights include the following:

  1. Why are you so involved in this topic?

-i have always been interested in education, but when i became involved with the rochester school district I realized the problems that are faced when you do not have a high school diploma

What are ways that you have demonstrated your goal to limit high school dropouts?

-Explaining the downsides of and the difficulties faced without a high school diploma

Do you have future plans for this?

-My goal is to decrease the dropout rate in rochester to as low as possible and we are trying to institute ways to get to students before it even comes across there mind.

What ways have you shown the downsides of dropping out of high school?

-I have described to students that are on the verge of dropping out that they will find difficulty in finding a steady income and even things like finding places to live.

What do you believe is the key to limiting dropouts?

-Providing the facts about what can happen to you if you do not receive a high school diploma

What can we expect in the future for rochester area high school dropouts?

- the dropout rate has been decreasing in the greater rochester area and we are looking to continue its decrease

In your experience what is the major reason why students dropout?

-The lack of support in their homes and community. In the suburb schools you experience less dropouts which can be due to the support given in the households.

Do you think that the district should be taking further action to limit the dropouts?

-Well you can always do more, but at the same time i think we are doing enough but i would like to see more done.
